In another session, Laurel and I worked to clear more bedroom clutter. Much of it was yarn – LOTS of yarn! – in bins, cubbies, and plastic laundry baskets. She crochets a lot. Acknowledging that there was far more than she could use, she kindly gave me a pretty crocheted bag that she’d made, full of varied colors of yarn, to pass along to someone I sing with. Becky was surprised and happy to receive it.
How to use the corner? How about moving an upholstered chair from across the room, and too close to a drafty window, to that spot, where cubbies of yarn stood? Okay! Laurel’s incredibly helpful and supportive sister Vikke and I moved them, actually “exchanging” their locations. We also moved a small table, which had held kitchen coffee supplies, from its temporary living room spot.
After our session time together ended, they went off, on a snowy afternoon, to buy a standing lamp for behind the chair, and found a nice one. Voila!
When asked, Laurel had said that she generally doesn’t sleep well. Maybe the session’s work, with her bedroom clutter cleared and the room re-arranged, would support better rest for her. That was to be determined but, for the moment, both she and Vikke were smiling. Success!
